Walking

on the beach:

Sirens lure me off the shore, convincing me there’s something more.

Wading

into waves:

Pushed & pulled by turning tide,  turbulence beckons as my bride.

Diving

in the deep:

Churning & turning where danger dwells, staying afloat above the swells.

Floating

way too far:

Lost at sea without control, barely breathing my only goal.

Swimming

to survive:

tossed in waves, desiring land, losing sight of distant sand.

Bobbing

out of breath:

lost the vision to live & thrive, merely moving to survive.

Flailing

on the verge:

breathing now in jeopardy, the shore a distant memory.

Drowning

in my mind:

never leaving home at all, paralyzed by pending squall.
